Christy Strauch head shot

Christy grew up in Mesa Arizona, where the Mexican food is to-die-for and summers, just barely livable. In middle school, she sang in the choir, and for lunch drank a foul-tasting diet drink called Metrical (it’s off the market for a reason).

High School went off with the usual social hitches, and, with a sense of relief, she headed for college to study…well, she wasn’t sure. She managed to graduate from Occidental College in four years, although she took one class in almost every department.

It took awhile, but she realized she would need to get a business degree if she wanted to escape the pink-collar ghetto of low-paid administrative jobs. So, she enrolled in graduate business school at UCLA.

In 1989, she took her MBA in finance and marketing and went to work as a sales representative for IBM. Gradually, it dawned on her that she needed to work for herself. She wanted control over how she served her customers, what products and services she offered, and how she marketed them.

So she left the comfort of IBM and joined a small IT company and eventually became a partner. Fifteen years and three mergers later, she took it public and sold it. This experience, intermittently painful and sometimes costly, taught her what it took to run a successful small business. She met hundreds of other small business owners and saw how many of them were struggling to succeed, doing the work they loved.  The problem usually stemmed from resistance to doing the business side of their businesses.

In 2005, she took the plunge and started Clarity to Business and, six years later, changed the name to Small Business Warrior. Her crusade is to help small business owners whose passion is their business, but who struggle with doing their business numbers, planning, and marketing.  In her experience, mastery of these aspects of business takes nothing less than the courage and commitment of a warrior.

She’s helped hundreds of small business owners across the U.S. and in Canada, and through the City of Phoenix, Arizona Management Technical Assistance program; and the City of Mesa, Arizona Business Assistance Program.

The majority of her clients have created viable, prosperous businesses. She loves witnessing their success.

Christy has published two books: Passion, Plan, Profit: 12 Simple Steps to Convert Your Passion into a Solid Business and Your Marketing Personality. She earned her Certified Professional Co-Active Coaching (CPCC) certificate from The Coach Training Institute and Associate Certified Coach (ACC) accreditation from the International Coach Federation.

Easter Island, the Grand Canyon, and her backyard are her favorite places to be. She’s still crazy about Mexican food.
